If you’re an introvert at work, you can stand out and get promoted!

Let’s face it, introverts make great leaders (no bias at all 😅 ).

If you are a talented introvert at work who is planning on moving into a leadership role, here is something you should know:

👉🏽 Hard work alone won’t land you that promotion. You need to speak up, be visible and get noticed!

As an introvert, I get it … easier said than done. Here are 3 practical ways to get your voice heard at work to get promoted:

1. Claim your accomplishments

Firstly, give yourself permission to do so. Then, focus on why your voice matters.

Self-promotion doesn’t make you self-centred. Instead, it shows that you’re ready to rise because you believe you can do the job.

You are talented and have accomplished so much. Take ownership of what you have done.

You need to convince yourself before you can convince others. Be confident and recognize that your skills and talent are worth more.

2. Stop expecting others to notice your contributions

Self-promotion is not a one-time thing. Instead, find strategic opportunities to consistently remind your employer of your worth, value, and contributions.

Rather than waiting for others to notice you, be proactive. Not comfortable speaking up?

There are other ways to make your presence known. For example, try a bi-weekly or monthly email to your manager highlighting some of your key achievements during that time. Read ‘10 Ways to Position Yourself for a Job Promotion

3. Communicate your intent

Lastly, it needs to be clear with your leadership team that you are looking to move up.

By communicating your goals, your leadership team can support you in moving to the next level.

Regular self-promotion while building your personal brand will help you create top-of-mind awareness – helping you become the first thing people will think about when an opportunity arises.

Excel in Your Career as an Introvert!

The truth is, the loudest person in the room isn’t always the leader. Therefore, it’s essential to be strategic in pursuing your career goals, take ownership of your career and advocate for yourself at work.
