Recently, one of our YouTube subscribers asked, “How can I hide my connections and followers on LinkedIn?” If you’ve been wondering the same thing, you’re in the right place! I’ll walk you through the simple steps to adjust your privacy settings.

Let’s get started.

Step 1: Hide Your Connection List

To control who can see your LinkedIn connections, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Your Profile Settings
    • Click the “Me” icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
    • Select “Settings & Privacy.”
  2. Navigate to Visibility Settings
    • Once in Settings & Privacy, click on the “Visibility” section.
  3. Adjust Who Can See Your Connections
    • Find the option labeled “Who can see your connections.”
    • By default, this is set to “Everyone.” Toggle it off if you want to be the only one who can view your connection list.

Important Note: Even if you hide your connection list, others can still see mutual connections or connections who endorse you. For example, if someone is connected to both you and another person, they’ll see that mutual connection.

Step 2: Hide Your Follower List

If you want to limit visibility on who you follow, here’s how:

  1. Stay in the Visibility Settings
    • While still in the Visibility section, find the option labeled “Who can see members you follow.”
  2. Choose Your Preference
    • You have two options:
      • “Only visible to me” (hides your follower list from others).
      • “Anyone on LinkedIn” (allows others to see who you follow).

Note: Even if you restrict your follower list, members you follow will still know you follow them. This setting only affects others outside of your connection or follow list.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

  • Mutual Connections: If someone shares a connection with you, they can still see that mutual connection.
  • Endorsements: If someone has endorsed you for a skill, their name will be visible in that endorsement.
  • Pages and Hashtags: This setting only applies to members you follow, not LinkedIn Pages or hashtags.

Bonus Tip: Control Who Sees When You View Their Profile

If you’re someone who values privacy and doesn’t want others to know you’ve viewed their LinkedIn profile, you can adjust those settings too! Check out this video where I show you how to make those changes.
